As a teenager one evening, my friends and I tackled some difficult questions. If God is real, why are people dying of starvation? Why so many tragedies and so much pain and suffering? Very difficult questions to which we did not have the answers. As we parted company that night I went off by myself and I said a simple prayer. I said, “God, if You are real, then I’m asking You to reveal yourself and the truth of all of this to me.”
Not too long ago, I was sharing that teenage experience with a friend, and in the middle of that conversation I was reminded of an excerpt from a book, and all of a sudden it hit me, at that moment, God was still answering my prayer 35 years later. You need to hear the excerpt to fully understand. So here it is.
Sometimes I would like to ask God why He allows poverty, suffering and injustice when He could do something about it. Well, why don’t you ask Him? Because I’m afraid that He would ask me the same question. – The Hole in our Gospel – Richard Stearns
Here is the cool thing, “None of us are here by accident”. I believe God is bringing us together; He’s equipping and expecting us to be the message of hope, to achieve success and to make a huge impact. To be the change that transforms the world.
Who’s with me?
