Archives For Personal Thoughts

My personal response to the message I shared yesterday:

I give you myself, God. Like the 2 year old jumping into the pool knowing that his dad’s got him. I jump into the pool of life knowing that you’ve got me!

I’ll figure it out as I go along. Trusting and knowing that it’s going to be fun, I’m going to learn and I’m going to conquer or master a skill and a new experience.

I’m going to find my way and – as I do, I’m going to represent you well. I like it when I bring tears to your eyes and make you proud of me!

In the process and over the years of discovery I’m going to find out what I do best and use it to fill the needs of and to serve and add value to others.

I’ll always strive to get better and keep love for others in the forefront of my mind.

As I get better, I will add more value to others and in so doing become more like you!

Help me to be more like the 2 year old…

I’m grateful

I’m grateful for my parents and my family. I’m grateful for my upbringing. I appreciate the memories and the unconditional love.

I’m thankful that my parents courageously left their country, and emigrated and brought us with them to the USA. I’m grateful for the friends I have made along the way and for the many opportunities that have come my way.

For Paul Nelson, who brought me to Minute Men Gourmet Foods, where I sold gourmet foods, door to door. Grateful for Cookie who saw something in me as I tried to get her to buy some steaks from me and one day gave me the opportunity to start my insurance career. I’m grateful for Free enterprise and the Capitalistic system where I can truly be all that I want to be.

I’m grateful that I got to meet here and marry the love of my life, Edna, an island girl from the Philippines and for the blessing of our daughter and son-in-law.

I’m grateful for Jim and Jeanetta Pollard, insurance customers, who introduced me to Steve and Nancy McDonald and got me involved in the Amway business. I’m grateful for Dexter Yeager, Tim and connie Foley and the personal and business development system they created. It changed my life. And started me on a life long journey of learning, growing and changing.

I’m grateful that they showed me the way back to God and for the richness of that relationship and the many blessings He has for me.

I’m grateful that this led to meeting John Maxwell and to becoming a part of the John Maxwell team, which in addition to many other things has led to meeting and learning from Paul Martinelli, the faculty and this tremendous world-changing community. I’m grateful that together, The John Maxwell Team is making a difference all around the world!

I’m grateful for the many people and companies I’ve worked with and for the many customers that have allowed me to add value to their lives.

I’m grateful for Robin Lewis Insurance and the wonderful associates I’ve worked with and those I work with now to provide a world-class customer experience, as we sell and service their insurance needs.

I’m grateful for the financial blessings and the options that we’ve been able to create and enjoy!

I’m grateful for the men and women who gave their lives for this great country. And for all those who have served or currently serve!

YOU’VE helped make all of this possible for us!

Sometimes It’s easy for me to take you for granted and to forget that freedom isn’t free!

As I look back and count the blessings you have made possible, I’m grateful! And I pledge to you today, to continue to strive to be all that I can be and to help others to do the same and to support our free enterprise system and do all that I can to make a difference and add value to others every day.

I’m grateful for YOU!

I hesitate to write about my faith sometimes because I know it can turn some people off. My hope, on this special day is that you will indulge me as I wish you a Happy Easter and share a little about my faith.

I passionately pursue personal development and write a lot about success and about living into our purpose and potential.

In the summer of 1986, I went to a business conference in Miami Beach, to learn how to get rich and become successful and it got my attention when several of the speakers who had the trappings of success to which I aspired, said that I could only find true success when I included God in the equation.

It was inspiring for me to hear successful people talk about their faith. I wanted what they had and I responded by making a decision that weekend to welcome him into my life and to allow him to show me the way and to have his way with me. I started a relationship with him and it has been an amazing journey!

Here are 5 things that this journey has meant to me:

  1. It has been a process. It hasn’t been all smooth sailing and I had to be intentional about developing this area of my life. And I still haven’t fully grasped all of it yet after almost 31 years. But the more that I go and the more that I grow, the more that I’m certain that It was the best decision I’ve ever made.
  2. My biggest area of growth (and this took a long, long time for me to grasp) was to finally realize and accept that he really loves me unconditionally. He believes in me and forgives me of all my mess ups, and I’ve made a few! — I’ve learned that I can trust his love.
  3. He really wants to be a part of my life and the more I allow him to be, the more success I have and the more I’m amazed at the untapped potential that I have in him and through him.
  4. His way (his DNA) and the way I should follow, is to love, serve and add value to others. He demonstrated this through his son, Jesus Christ—In his life, death, burial and resurrection. — I’m learning that success in life is about dedicating who I am and the resources I have to living a life of serving and adding value to others.
  5. My greatest hope and motivation is that when I get to the life beyond this life, I will hear him say: Well done Robin! I am proud of you man! You’ve been faithful with what I entrusted to you. Come and enjoy my kingdom.

and purpose, apart from God?

Who is He? What is He? What is He about?  Did He really make ME, and if so, why?  Reasonable questions, don’t you agree?

The bible says things like:

In the beginning God… Genesis 1:1 NIV

Through Him all things were made… John 1:3 NIV

For everything, absolutely everything, above and below, visible and invisible,… Everything got started in Him and finds it’s purpose in him. Colossians 1:16 The Message

For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son… John 3:16 NIV

God is love… 1 John 4:8

Long before He laid down earth’s foundations, He had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of His love… Ephesians 1:4 The Message

In Him was life, and that life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness but the darkness has not understood it… John 1:4-5 NIV

We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do… Ephesians 2:10 NIV

Without faith it is impossible to please God… Hebrews 11:6 NIV

In Rick Warren’s great book on this subject, he quotes, atheist, Bertrand Russell as saying, “Unless you assume a God, the question of life’s purpose is meaningless.”

We should make it our duty to at least examine these things, don’t you agree?
